Aluminum Strip for Cable Armor

What is aluminum armor tape

Armored aluminum tape is a special aluminum/aluminum alloy tape used for cable armor protection. It is mainly made of 5000 series (5052, 5154, 5154A) alloys and is commonly used in H24 temper.

It is wrapped between the cable sheaths through processes such as wrapping and longitudinal wrapping. It has functions such as mechanical protection (resistance to extrusion, impact, and rodent gnawing), electromagnetic shielding, and grounding. It is lightweight, highly corrosion-resistant, and has excellent flexibility.

It is widely used in medium and low voltage armored cables and fire-resistant cables in various scenarios such as construction, subways, mines, and coastal areas. It can replace galvanized steel tape to achieve cable lightweighting and lower total life cycle cost.

Advantages of aluminum alloy strip

  • Density 2.7g/cm³, 60%+ lighter than steel strip, reducing transportation/construction costs.

  • 500h salt spray test with no red rust, corrosion and weather resistant, stable performance at -40℃~80℃, lifespan 30+ years.

  • Tensile strength 180-250MPa, elongation ≥14%, strong protection, easy to process, customizable.

  • 2.8-3.2 USD/kg, 15%-20% cheaper than steel strip, 100% recyclable.

  • Conductivity ≥58% IACS, also functions as a shielding layer, resists electromagnetic interference.

Why choose us

1. Fine-tuning the alloy formula ratio achieves the required high strength and high elongation.

2. Considering the specific characteristics of cable equipment, we continuously improve the winding device of the slitting equipment, enabling the slit products to directly meet the needs of electrical equipment with different apertures, reducing rewinding steps and lowering costs.

3. Using imported cutting tools and upgrading the slitting equipment ensures that the aluminum strip is slit with a straight surface, flat end face, and free of wavy edges, curled edges, or burrs.

4. Support customized thickness (0.3-1.2mm), width (20-100mm), length and surface treatment, fully compatible with interlocking armoring, longitudinal wrapping and other cable production processes, suitable for power cable, optical cable, fire-resistant cable and other scenarios.

Packaging&Shipping

The goods are packaged in multiple layers of protective packaging with complete labeling information; transportation is primarily by sea, supplemented by air; and a full set of customs documents are prepared to ensure compliant customs clearance and safe delivery.
